Invisible braces

Thanks to invisible braces, achieving straighter teeth is easier than ever.

Many of us would like straighter teeth to improve our appearance, but are worried that unsightly braces will only make matters worse before they get better. Luckily, there are several invisible braces available now, which in some cases are even removable. At Bow Lane Dental, we offer four types of invisible braces, meaning there’s something for everyone.

Invisible braces explained

Some invisible braces are totally invisible, while others have been carefully designed to blend in with your teeth and mouth. Finding the right invisible brace for you not only depends on aesthetics, but mainly on how crooked your teeth are and where they are located in the mouth.

The different invisible braces, in order of invisibility

Lingual braces: Fixed and totally invisible braces

Lingual braces are fixed to the back surface of your teeth, making them totally invisible – no one need ever know you are undergoing a procedure! This new generation of invisible braces is great for image conscious people and is suitable for most.

Invisalign: Clear and removable retainers

Rather than using invisible braces, Invisalign uses a series of clear and virtually invisible custom-made retainers that are swapped every two weeks to move teeth over time. Because the retainers are removable, this procedure is popular with people who spend their lives in the spotlight. Invisalign is only suitable for correcting minor misalignments.

Inman Aligner: Clear and removable retainers for the front teeth

Faster than, but similar to Invisalign; the Inman Aligner uses just one clear, removable retainer for each row of teeth, but can only straighten the front teeth. If your front teeth are in need of minor adjustments, the virtually invisible Inman Aligner might be an easier option than invisible braces.

Labial braces with clear brackets: Fixed and virtually invisible braces

Just like conventional braces, labial braces with clear brackets are fixed to the outer surface of the teeth and connected with wires to shape the arch. The difference with metal braces is that these almost invisible braces are made of a translucent ceramic material that matches the colour of the teeth. This option is suitable for correcting most disordered teeth and is usually more comfortable than lingual braces.
