Whiter teeth

It’s easier than ever to achieve whiter teeth…

When people think of cosmetic dentistry, they immediately conjure up countless painful trips to the dentist. Luckily, the different procedures have become quicker and less intrusive over the years, especially when it comes to getting whiter teeth.

Thanks to the power of laser, whiter teeth can now be achieved in just one 45-minute session in the dentist’s chair. For that reason, getting whiter teeth is often the first or only step our clients undertake on their journey to a brighter smile.

How whiter teeth are achieved

Achieving whiter teeth can be split in to two main categories: Tray-based teeth whitening and laser teeth whitening.

Tray-based teeth whitening starts with an appointment at the dentist to make custom trays that fit your teeth. You’ll then apply the supplied whitening gel yourself at home and wear the trays for up to one hour during seven to ten sessions. This method for whiter teeth takes longer, but is less costly than laser whitening.

Laser teeth whitening is done at the dentist and using the new Zoom Advanced Power, it can take as little as 45 minutes to achieve whiter teeth. After protecting the areas around your teeth, a stronger bleaching gel is placed on them and activated using a special light. Typically, your teeth will be whiter by 8-10 shades and with 73% less sensitivity than other methods.

The dos and don’ts for whiter teeth

  • DO see a professional dentist: Whiter teeth are most effectively and safely achieved by a professional, who will be able to determine your suitability for each process and supervise the procedure.
  • DON’T rely on whitening toothpastes: For these to really give you whiter teeth, they would need to come in contact with them for at least 15 minutes, which doesn’t happen during the brushing process. Furthermore, some whitening toothpastes contain acids or abrasives that can do permanent damage.
  • DON’T buy over the counter kits: Not everyone is suitable for teeth whitening and without a trip to the dentist first, you may find that out the hard way. Because the hydrogen peroxide in these kits is weaker, your journey to whiter teeth will take longer and be less effective.
