Dental crowns London

Got chipped, cracked or decayed teeth?

You're in the right place.

At Bow Lane Dental, you can restore worn teeth to their former glory with our porcelain dental crowns in central London.

All you need to know about dental crowns

  • Improve the appearance of a tooth
  • Hold together a cracked or broken tooth
  • Strong protection with porcelain or gold dental crown

Decayed, worn down or fractured teeth can all be remedied by placing tooth-shaped gold or porcelain crowns over your natural tooth.

Although there are major aesthetic benefits to dental crowns, the main reason for placing them is to strengthen damaged teeth so they can withstand the large forces we exert on them. And thanks to the latest developments, dental crowns can now blend in seamlessly with your other teeth.

I have been going to Bow Lane Dental for quite a few years now and could not be happier. Ilan and Richard have changed my life with all the amazing work that they have done on my teeth and crowns while Sarah is the best hygienist I’ve ever been to.

Why you may need a dental crown

Crowns are used for a number of reasons, mainly where dental bonding or dental veneers restorations don’t provide a strong enough solution.

  • For heavily decayed teeth
  • For heavily fractured teeth
  • For heavily eroded teeth
  • For teeth with a large cavity
  • To cover a dental implant
  • Following root canal treatment
  • For cosmetic reasons - as an alternative for teeth whitening

Dental crowns explained

Crowns, or porcelain crowns are also known as caps because they completely encircle the weak tooth above the gum and protect it. They can be made of metal (often gold), porcelain or a combination of the two. In a nutshell:

  • Gold is the strongest option and often used for the back teeth which are out of view
  • The new and almost transparent porcelain crowns blend seamlessly with existing teeth and are therefore a more popular choice for the front teeth
  • A happy medium between the two is therefore gold crowns with a thin veneer of porcelain over the top

Each option has pros and cons and our initial consultation with you will determine which crowns will work best for you.

The process of creating crowns

Dental crowns are crafted and fitted in two simple steps:

Step one

After an initial consultation, we will clean the tooth and then reshape it under local anesthesia to accommodate the crown.

Step two

We’ll then take a mould of your teeth and give this to our in-house lab where crowns and porcelain crowns are custom-made. The advantage of our in-house lab is that our technicians can reproduce the shape and colour of your existing teeth using ‘the real thing’ as a guide. During this time we provide you with a temporary crown.

Step three

When you visit us again, we’ll remove the temporary crown and place the new one to see it fits with your smile and bite. If we are happy with the result, your new crown is placed and you walk out with your smile restored!

Dental crown cost London

Dental crowns in London are a costly treatment due to both the preparation time as well as requiring a personalised prosthodontic tooth. View our dental fees page for a better breakdown of the cost.

The total cost of your treatment depends on a couple of different things though, including how many teeth you wish to repair, which teeth you need to repair and the extent of the damage.

At Bow Lane, we believe that all dental treatments – general, restorative and cosmetic – should be accessible to all patients, which is why we offer a range of different ways to pay for your dental crowns, including interest-free monthly payments, discount on upfront payments and pay-as-you-go payment plans.

If you have any questions or concerns about the dental crown cost in London, or you’d like to find out more about our finance options, don’t hesitate to contact our experts.
