Give yourself the perfect smile with expert teeth straightening services from our London orthodontists.

London Orthodontics From Bow Lane Dental

Given the advances in orthodontics over the past few years, crooked, crowded, gappy or twisted teeth can effectively be a thing of the past using a range of relatively unobtrusive options.

Without a doubt, a great smile brings new confidence and positively impacts on others. All of the experienced orthodontists in our London practice make sure to concentrate on achieving perfect harmony between your teeth, face and jaw for superb, long-lasting results.

Our Orthodontic service includes the following options:

Because there are many effective teeth straightening methods we can offer, our first step is always to asses which is the most suitable one for you. The way we carry out this assessment is by arranging for you to have a face-to-face consultation with a friendly orthodontist in our London practice. The two main choices you will have are fixed or removable solutions – these are the options that Bow Lane Dental offer in London:

Invisalign

This is a removable teeth straightening method which uses a series of clear retainers, specially fitted by an experienced orthodontist, to straighten your smile. Because these appliances are transparent and removable, the teeth straightening process is highly discreet and therefore very popular with adults.

The Inman Aligner

A teeth straightening treatment which uses just one removable retainer – this shortens the alignment and is also less expensive than many other solutions. The Inman Aligner method can only be used for the front top and bottom teeth however, and is slightly more noticeable than Invisalign.

Tooth Coloured Braces

While teeth straightening using fixed braces is a more traditional method, these days there is no need to suffer with the dreaded ‘metal mouth’. Our orthodontists in London will fit fixed braces that contain clear ceramic brackets with white wires, so braces are much less noticeable. This method is often easier to manage with kids than removable braces.

Invisible Lingual Braces

Fixed yet totally invisible, this teeth straightening solution is perfect for image-conscious people. The braces are fixed to the inside (back surface) of your teeth, so they are completely out of view. This method can however take some time to get used to.

Orthodontic benefits:

  • Our London orthodontists have the ability to completely straighten crooked teeth. Teeth straightening will dramatically improve the attractiveness of your smile and therefore your confidence. This in turn boosts your social and career success.
  • Orthodontics improve dental function – by aligning your teeth, the forces exerted on them when you chew, talk or simply move your teeth are balanced, resulting in better long term health of your teeth, gums and jawbone.
  • Straight teeth are easier to keep clean, reducing the chance of cavities and gum disease.

Orthodontics frequently asked questions:

  • Do I need a retainer once I finish straightening my teeth?
The retainer is a way of guaranteeing your teeth don’t move back out of alignment. We will have an orthodontist at our London practice carefully fit a thin wire retainer to prevent this from happening over time so that your teeth stay straight.
  • How long do I need to wear the Inman aligner?
The longer and more regularly you wear it, the quicker your teeth will straighten. On average, your London orthodontist will ask you to wear the aligner for 18 hours per day, only removing it when cleaning your teeth or eating.
  • How long will it take me to get used to fixed braces?
Generally, our London orthodontists find that most people take around 4 hours to get used to the braces being in your mouth and about five days to almost forget they are there. Depending on whether you have upper or lower braces, your pronunciation of certain words may be slightly affected, however you will be more aware of this than others.
  • Can I eat normal foods with braces?
Yes, although it is best to avoid hard or sticky foods as much as possible since they are prone to getting caught in the braces, which will take time for you to clean up.
