Are dentists still open?

Many people are asking if dentists are still open for face-to-face care. As well as this, many people are searching online for ‘How do I get an emergency dentist appointment?’, ‘Are dentists open in the UK?’, ‘Do you have to pay for an emergency dentist?’ and ‘Are dentists open?’. Based in Central London, Bow Lane Dental is open for all dental treatments, both face-to-face and online. Your safety and our teams safety are paramount. That is why we are constantly investing in the latest equipment for cross infection control and adhering to all government guidelines.

During these unprecedented times, going to the dentist will feel vastly different than it has in the past, but we are here to make you feel comfortable and at ease whenever you come to visit us here at Bow Lane.

How are patients being prioritized?

Emergency dental care is prioritized and our main aim is to get our patients out of pain as quickly as possible. Our reception team will ask you a few questions when you call to book your appointment.

If your dental problem is classed as a dental emergency, our team will find a suitable appointment to help you get out of pain as soon as possible. Please come alone to your appointment unless you need a parent or guardian as a chaperone.

Is it safe to have dental treatment while some COVID restrictions are still in place?

We have made our dental practice as safe as possible, whilst adhering to all government guidelines at all times. We have made every effort to support our patients and give them a safe and comfortable experience from start to finish.

Our practice have provided an automatic temperature scanner on arrival, automatic taps, soap dispensers and hand sanitising stations as well as free masks and anti-bac gel.

Bow Lane Dental have air purifiers in each surgery and are wearing the correct PPE for every treatment. If you are having an ‘Aerosol Generating Procedure’ the dentist and nurse will be wearing a FFP2/respirator mask and full clinical gown.

You can take a look at our COVID-19 information page here.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes. We are accepting new patients. When you call us to book as a new patient, a member of our team will go through a few short questions to make sure we have all the relevant details to book you in for your chosen treatment.

We are offering everything from emergency and preventative care such as composite fillings and hygiene treatments, to cosmetic treatments such as veneers, crowns, teeth whitening and more.

You will be sent your Medical History form to complete or update remotely securely online via an email link before your appointment.

Online consultations

To save you having to travel in to see a dentist, we now offer video and telephone consultations if you prefer. Our dentist Dr Stewart Beggs is offering FREE online consultations at the moment, meaning it’s a great time to book an appointment online. Stewart can discuss anything from an Invisalign treatment to teeth whitening and composite bonding enquiries.

What do I do if I have a dental emergency?

When you need to get out of pain fast, our same-day emergency dental service is available for our registered patients. Our highly experienced team will work to immediately fix the problem. They will also put together a follow-up dental treatment plan. This is to ensure you do not suffer with dental pain in the longer term.

We recommend coming to visit us if:

  • Pain is not relieved by over-the-counter medication
  • You begin to experience extreme pain after a tooth extraction
  • If the pain is associated with the gums or face
  • If your wisdom teeth are causing pain and discomfort

So, what is defined as a dental emergency?

There are a number of circumstances that would be classed as a dental emergency. Any kind of tooth ache or tooth pain, is something that we would want to treat as soon as possible.

Facial swelling is also classed as a dental emergency as this could be a sign of an abscess. This would cause a lot of tenderness and pain around the swollen area, something that would require immediate treatment.

If you notice swelling or experience pain in your gums this may also be a sign of infection. This is another symptom that we would want to treat quickly.

Dental trauma, such as a broken tooth, filling, denture, crown, or veneer are also classed as a dental emergency. So, if the unthinkable happens make sure you book your emergency dental appointment.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have about how we keep you safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call us on 020 7236 3600 or email reception@bowlanedental.com
