Is Yoga good for your teeth?

Is Yoga good for your teeth?
Is Yoga good for your teeth?

We know yoga is good for you. It helps stretch tight muscles and strengthen weak ones, cultivating flexibility, stability, and teaches proper alignment and posture.I bet you did not know it was also good for your teeth and dental health. The areas of the body that tend to carry the most stress are the neck, shoulders, and back. This connects to your face and jaw and it is very common for some people to hold ALL their stress in their jaw, especially if they are prone to grinding or bruxism.Poor posture causes us to slouch forward, our skulls then sits backwards over our spine, and our lower jaw (mandible) is moved forwards.  Our teeth are no longer properly aligned and our brain tries to get them to come together as best as it can.  This causes muscles of the face, and our jaw joints (TMJ’s) to be under stress, which causes pain in our head. The teeth get overloaded and start to wear down. Our body is interconnected so when our posture is correct, the jaw is aligned and functions most efficiently.Yoga not only helps your body it also helps to make your SMILE last a lifetime. The Bow Lane Dental team still recommends to see your dentist once a year to check for early signs of disease and make sure your jaw is aligned properly. Read more about a dental checkup HERE.
