Bow Lane Dental are on a mission to help schools go sugar-free by 2023. We’ve teamed up with the charity Rewards Project to help schools across the UK kick sugar.
Did you know? By the age of five, over a quarter of our children are suffering from tooth decay? Sugar is one of the biggest causes of tooth decay, but more and more schools in London are becoming ‘sugar-free’. This means no sugary drinks, crisps or chocolate are allowed in packed lunches. We want to take it a step further and get at least 90% of schools across the whole of the United Kingdom to follow suit.
Rewards Project is a charity set up by Bow Lane Dental founder James Goolnik, a practicing dentist in the City of London. James has witnessed first-hand the damage sugar has done to our children’s teeth. He decided to take action. The Rewards Project charity focuses on helping people across the UK reward themselves with healthier alternatives. Everyone wants recognition but it doesn’t need to be food or sweets to motivate people. You can find out more on how to reward your children here.
Rewards Project have put together a fantastic 14-day sugar challenge, which will boost your immune system, re-calibrate your taste buds AND raise money for the charity at the same time. The sugar challenge is just £21 and 100% of the profits go straight to the charity to help fund UK schools in becoming sugar-free.

The charity has set up a Rewards Review survey to find out how well schools are doing with keeping sugar to a minimum. If you are a headteacher or know someone who is, we would love for them to fill out our short survey. As well as this, the survey helps us move forward and take the relevant actions to improve the health of school children around the UK. You can take the survey here.
There are many websites that can help you gain a better insight to the war on sugar. Read more on the charity’s website www.rewardsproject.org. You can also read this helpful press release from London.gov.uk by clicking here.
